Getting Started

If you need technology help, submitting a ticket through the SUNY Empire ticketing system is the quickest way to solve the issue. Just follow the steps below.

  1. Go to help.sunyempire.edu. Sign in if you don't see your name in the upper right hand corner. Login using your SUNY Empire email address and password. Bonus tip: You can also find the Service Desk hours, contact information, and system status at SUNY Empire.

  2. Next press the button that says "Submit a ticket".

  3. Starting from the top you will see a number of fields to fill out. Most are self-explanatory, but here is a few that might be useful to go over.
    • Preferred Contact Method: How you would like to be contacted in regards to your incident. By default, email is preferred.
    • Do you have access to your SUNY Empire Outlook email account? This is really important if we cannot reach you via your SUNY Empire email. Having an alternative email is useful
    • Subject: This is just like the subject line for an email. Being descriptive here is helpful in identifying your ticket. Keep it short but descriptive.
    • Description: This is the body of the ticket. Add as much detail as you can to this section. Remember the who, what, where, and when are good details to add.
      • "Who" are the people that are being affected by this incident.
      • "What" is situation that is occurring. Any troubleshooting steps you've taken will be useful here. You can also include error messages here. This allows us to get to resolving your incident much quicker and it allows faster support and resolution, as it reduces time spent going back and forth with questions.
        • If this is for a Course, adding things like the full Course name such as 2024FA FOOD 1010 01 "the Science of Cooking" is much better than "my cooking class".
      • "Where" includes are you at home, in the office, working from a convention center when this happening.
      • "When" did this start happening, or occurring. If it is only when you first start your day, or is all the time.
      • Attachments: the saying goes "A picture is worth a thousand words". Adding screen shots of error messages are useful as well.
    • Check it over. Read over your description again. Does it paint a picture for somebody to understand the incident you are experiencing.
    • Press Submit. You will get an email confirmation sent to your school email.

Afterwards

You can sign back into the Service Desk page and click on View My Tickets to see your ticket.

Primeros pasos

Si necesitas ayuda con tecnología, enviar un ticket a través del sistema de tickets de SUNY Empire es la forma más rápida de resolver el problema. Solo sigue los pasos a continuación.

  1. Ve a help.sunyempire.edu. Inicia sesión si no ves tu nombre en la esquina superior derecha. Inicia sesión con tu dirección de correo electrónico de SUNY Empire y tu contraseña. Consejo adicional: También puedes encontrar el horario, la información de contacto y el estado del sistema del Centro de ayuda tecnológica de SUNY Empire.

  2. Luego presiona el botón que dice "Submit a ticket".

  3. Empezando desde la parte superior, verás varios campos para completar. La mayoría son fáciles de entender, pero aquí tienes algunos que puede ser útil revisar.
    • Método de contacto preferido: Cómo prefieres que nos comuniquemos contigo con respecto a tu incidente. De forma predeterminada, se prefiere el correo electrónico.
    • ¿Tienes acceso a tu cuenta de correo electrónico de Outlook de SUNY Empire? Esto es muy importante si no podemos comunicarnos contigo a través de tu correo electrónico de SUNY Empire. Tener un correo electrónico alternativo es útil.
    • Asunto: Es igual que la línea de asunto de un correo electrónico. Ser descriptivo aquí ayuda a identificar tu ticket. Mantenlo breve, pero descriptivo.
    • Descripción: Estos son los detalles del ticket. Agrega tantos detalles como puedas en esta sección. Recuerda que quién, qué, dónde y cuándo son buenos detalles para incluir.
      • "Quién": las personas afectadas por este incidente.
      • "Qué": la situación que está ocurriendo. Cualquier paso de solución de problemas que ya hayas intentado será útil aquí. También puedes incluir mensajes de error. Esto nos permite resolver tu incidente mucho más rápido y agiliza el soporte y la resolución, ya que reduce el tiempo dedicado a hacer preguntas adicionales.
        • Si esto es para un curso, agregar información como el nombre completo del curso, por ejemplo, 2024FA FOOD 1010 01 "The Science of Cooking", es mucho mejor que escribir "mi clase de cocina".
      • "Dónde": indica si estás en casa, en la oficina o trabajando desde un centro de convenciones cuando ocurre el problema.
      • "Cuándo": indica cuándo comenzó a ocurrir el problema. Por ejemplo, si solo sucede al comenzar tu día o si ocurre todo el tiempo.
      • Archivos adjuntos: Como dice el dicho, "Una imagen vale más que mil palabras". Agregar capturas de pantalla de los mensajes de error también es muy útil.
    • Revísalo. Lee nuevamente tu descripción. ¿Describe con claridad el incidente que estás experimentando para que otra persona pueda entenderlo?
    • Presiona Submit. Recibirás un correo electrónico de confirmación en tu correo electrónico institucional.

Después

Puedes volver a iniciar sesión en la página del Centro de ayuda tecnológica y hacer clic en View My Tickets para ver tu ticket.
