Introduction
The Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder is a webcam and screen recorder tool that can be installed directly onto your computer. It allows members of SUNY Empire to create video content on the fly, without needing to login to LEARNscape or Brightspace. This article provides an overview of this tool.
Install Kaltura Capture
Kaltura Captura only needs to be installed once. A desktop icon will appear on your computer for quick access.
- Login to LEARNscape at learn.sunyempire.edu.
- Select the Add New drop-down and choose Kaltura Capture.
- A window will open. Choose Download for Windows or Download for Mac. Please note: You will not need an administrators password to install this feature.
Kaltura Capture Overview
Double click the Kaltura Capture desktop icon to launch the program. This will open the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder. You will be presented with the following options:
- Camera: This allow for one to multiple cameras and monitors to be recorded.
- Screen: This allows for multiple screens to be recorded.
- Audio: This provides choices of audio source.
- Manage: This is the library of your Capture recordings where you can edit a video's metadata.
- The large red button should be pressed after the above choices are made to begin recording.
