Introduction
The Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder is a webcam, microphone and screen recorder tool that can be installed directly onto your computer. It allows users to create video content on the fly, without needing to login into LEARNscape or Brightspace. This article provides an overview of this tool.
Downloading Kaltura Capture
- Log In into LEARNscape.
- Select the Add New and choose Kaltura Capture.

- A window will open. Choose Download for Windows or Download for Mac. Please note: You will not need an administrator password to install this feature.

- After downloading Kaltura Capture a desktop icon will appear on your computer for quick access.
Recording with Kaltura Capture
To start recording with Kaltura Capture, simply open the application on your desktop and follow the on-screen prompts shown below.
- Select the Kaltura Capture desktop icon to launch the program. This will open the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder.
Please Note: After downloading the application for the very first time, you will be prompted to 'Launch Kaltura Capture from the “Add New “ menu on the LEARNscape website. Once you complete this step, you won't need to do it again.

- The following options will be presented to you:
- Record: Should be selected after the above choices are made to begin recording.
- Screen: This allows for multiple screens to be recorded.
- Camera: This allows for multiple cameras and monitors to be recorded.
- Audio: This provides choices of audio source.
- Manage: This is the library of your Capture recordings where you can edit a video's metadata.

- Once you have selected the record button and the recording starts, a toolbar will appear at the bottom-right corner showing the following features:
- Stop Recording: Stops recording and moves to next step of uploading.
- Pause Recording: Pauses recording so you can pause yet keep recording in the same video.
- Stop and Delete or Cancel: Stops recording and deletes it immediately.
- Recording Timer: Shows the progressive length of your recording.
- Microphone On Notification: shows that the chosen microphone is in use.
- Pencil Icon: When chosen opens the screen whiteboard tool

- Once you have stopped recording, the Manage Window will appear, showing your video library.
- Choose Save and Upload.
- The Manage window will then show it has been uploaded to LEARNscape.
