Introduction
To access your saved videos and playlists on LEARNscape, you must be logged in with your SUNY Empire username and password. This article will review how to login and view your LEARNscape account information.
Logging in to LEARNscape
- In a web browser, enter the URL, learn.sunyempire.edu. Firefox or Google Chrome are the recommended browsers while using LEARNscape. LEARNscape will display and you will be logged in as a Guest. In the upper-right-hand corner, select Guest, then select Login.

- Enter your SUNY Empire username and password, then select Login.
- Now that you have logged in with your SUNY Empire username and password, you will be taken back to the LEARNscape site. You are now logged in as yourself and can edit uploaded media and view shared internal videos by selecting your name in the upper-right hand corner.

Guest Access
Guests are non-SUNY Empire personnel (faculty, students, or staff). Guests have the ability to view any media that is open to the public. However, guests cannot perform the following: create a LEARNscape account, copy or download media, make a playlist, or add or save media in LEARNscape.
If you are a guest and cannot view a specific video, please contact SUNY Empire Service Desk at service-desk@sunyempire.edu.
User Access
All SUNY Empire faculty, staff, and students have user access to LEARNscape by logging in with their SUNY Empire account.
The LEARNscape features listed below are available to all faculty, staff, and students:.
- Create/add new media files using Kaltura Capture.
- Order closed captions (CC).
- Create a playlist.
- Own a MyMedia Repository.
- Connect MyMedia to Brightspace.
- Comment on other users’ media.
- Allow/close comments on own media.
- Make media private.
- Make media unlisted and/or be able to be viewed by others with a link.
- Publish media to a channel viewed by designated affiliates at the University.
These are examples of what faculty, staff, or students cannot do in LEARNscape:
- Cannot publish media to the public (outside the University)
- Cannot upload directly from an external video source such as YouTube or Vimeo to LEARNscape.
