Adding Audio or Video Feedback on Graded Activities

Introduction

In addition to providing text based feedback on assignments, instructors can also record audio and video feedback for students to access.

Steps to Record Audio and Video Feedback

Follow these steps to add audio and/or video feedback to assignments, and to create autogenerated captions for the recordings.

  1. Under the Course Menu, navigate to Assignments.
  2. Select the assignment.
  3. Select Evaluate. Below Overall Feedback, there is the option to record audio or video feedback.
  4. Select Record Audio or Record Video.
  5. When prompted, enable your microphone and/or camera.

  6. Select New Recording and when finished recording click Add.
  7. When prompted, fill out the title and description fields, and set the audio language.
  8. Check the box that says Automatically generate captions from audio.
    • Important: Even though captions can be automatically generated it is still necessary to provide a text description of the feedback for students who may not be able to access the audio or video recording.
  9. Select Add. The feedback will show up as an attachment that can be downloaded.

  10. Save the draft and wait approximately 10 seconds for the file to process.
  11. To listen to your feedback before publishing, click on the attachment (it will open in a new window).
    • Important: When students access your audio or video comment, they can navigate to the settings wheel in the right corner to turn on closed captioning. Please let students know about this feature if you plan to provide audio and video feedback.

  12. Return to the page where you added the feedback and click Publish.
