Introduction
An Advanced Find is a querying tool in Advise. It allows a user to create views of student data that can be used to populate dashboards, reports, communication member lists among other things.
Click the Advanced Find Icon (the funnel) in Advise.
Select the appropriate entity to build your view. In this example, select People.

Click Select below the People entity and click Status. In the next column, be sure it says Equals and then click the next field. This will turn into an empty field with three dots.

Click the three dots and Select Active. Click the right arrows and click OK.

Click the Select under the Status field and select Relationship Type.

Click the next column to say Equals and then click on the next field that says Enter Value: Relationship Type. This will also come up as an empty field with three dots. Click on the three dots and select Student, click arrows and then OK.

Click on Select below the Relationship Type and select Academic Level.
Click the next column to say Equals and then select the next field to say Enter Value. It will turn into a blank field. Click the magnifying class for options.

In this dialog box, click the box next to Undergraduate, click Select and click Add.
Click on Select below Academic Level and select Attributes.
In the next column, click on Equals and change it to say Contains.
In the next column, click Enter Text. Type SON:
Click Save As.
Name your saved view and add a Description, if you wish. Click Save.

It’s important to note that when you click “Equals” in building your views, this means EXACT. If you need to search for something that might be in an longer list, such as and attribute, choosing “Contains” would be the better option as you are not held to the strict language parameters that “Equals” requires.
