How to Download Office 365
Relevant To: Students, ITS Staff
Introduction
Students will receive a Office 365 license from Microsoft on the first day of the first term that a student registers for a course and enrolls in a course.
How to Download Office 365
1. Go to www.sunyempire.edu and click on MySUNYEmpire and log-in.
2. Scroll down the page and in the lower right, you will see a box labeled “Bookmarks”. Click on the link “Office 365”. 
3. You will then see the Microsoft Sign-in webpage. Type in the same User Name you use to log into MySUNYEmpire. For students - firstname_lastname###@sunyempire.edu, for faculty/staff use your university email address. Click the “Next” button. 
4. You will then see the Empire State University log-on page. Use the same password you use to log into MySUNYEmpire. 
5. You will then see an option to “Stay signed in”. You can choose “yes” or “no”.
6. You will see a page that has a list of Office 365 short-cuts. On the far right, click on the button labeled “Install” and then click on “Office 365 Apps”. 
7. You will be asked to save a file. Save the file. Find the file in your Internet browser’s downloads folder, double click on the file to run the file and start the install. Windows may ask you permission to “allow this program to make changes to this computer”. Click “yes”. 
It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to install. Just follow the program prompts as you go along.
8. If you receive and error message or the program does not install properly, uninstall Office 365 and re-install it.

9. You may install Office 365 on up to 5 devices. You can manage the you installs and license by going to portal.office.com and in the upper right corner, click on your initials and then click on My Account. On the next page you can click on Subscriptions to view your User Unique Identifier if you need support from Microsoft. (Fig 1) You can click on My Installs to install Office 365 on the device you are on or Deactivate a license from a device to free it up to use on another device. (Fig 2)
