Introduction
The following article details important areas of the student home page and assists students in navigating the overall portal.
Access
From your web browser, type my.sunyempire.edu (This takes you to the log in screen).
Menu (upper left)
For basic site navigation, hover on Menu (on mobile, click). Note the Calendars and the Forms and Publications links as both are very useful university resources.
Your Home Page
Use the icons along the top for quick access to key tools and resources.
My Student Business
These four icons present quick access to three vital offices as well as a quick means to update important student information.
My Bookmarks and Campus Links
Contains links relevant to the university community.
Add your own links to My Links by clicking Manage Bookmarks > Add to My Links.
There are additional Resources in the center of the page.
Search
Can't find what you need? Try Search.
Use the search field in the top right of the screen to Search Everything (all of MySUNYEmpire, based on your access rights).
Note: Searching inside the Menu (top left) filters choices located in the Menu only.
Tabbed Displays
Tabbed displays save space. In the example below, the "Announcements" tab is active. Click the "Events" tab to see that content.
Basic Web Browsing Tips
- Increase the size of icons/text: press Ctrl +
- Decrease the size: press Ctrl –
- Find text on the current page: press Ctrl + F
- Right-click any link/icon/button to open in a new tab
Focus on Content Icon
This toggle (top right) hides/unhides the breadcrumb trail, page heading, and search bar.
Click Focus on Content to gain screen space. Click again to restore the features.
Sign Out
In the upper right, click the down arrow to the right of your name and choose Sign Out.
