All undergraduate students are required to follow either the 2010 General Education Requirements or the 2023 General Education Framework based on criteria outlined on the General Education Resource Page. Upon Admission, each student is assigned an attribute that identifies the general education they are required to complete. Once applied, this designation is automatically visible on all DP Planner degree programs as shown in screenshot 1 and screenshot 2. If a general education designation does not appear on a student’s DP, please contact the Registrar’s Office by emailing RegistrarsOffice@sunyempire.edu before proceeding.
If a student is required to complete the 2010 Gen Ed Requirements, only 2010 Gen Ed attributes will be visible and automatically imported for SUNY Empire courses, transcript credits and CBE (screenshot 3). The General Education document for these students in DP Planner will not change.
If a student is required to complete the 2023 Gen Ed Framework, only 2023 Gen Ed attributes will be visible and automatically imported for SUNY Empire courses, transcript credits and CBE (screenshot 4). A new and different General Education document will display for these students (screenshot 5). In the new 2023 Gen Ed document, users can also view all SUNY Empire courses that meet any of the 2023 General Education requirements.
In addition to the existing general education placeholder courses, 2023 general education placeholder courses have been added to DP Planner (screenshot 6).
