Introduction

Enrollments in Brightspace are automatically controlled by the student registration status.

When courses are listed in Brightspace

After registering for a course, it will be listed in Brightspace MyCourses under the tab for the term you registered for and the course will also be listed in the All Courses tab. The course will not open until the week before Term start, this is called preview week.

Reasons for loosing course access during the term

There are several reason why a student might loose access to a course during the term.

  • Technical problems: If the student is having issues with course access during the term or before the term starts they can submit a service desk ticket at: https://www.sunyempire.edu/its/.
  • A problem with the student account such as an issue related to payment (Visit Keep Your Seat for more information).
  • An administrative withdrawal, please contact the Registrar's office for more information.

End of Term Access

14 days after a student receives a final grade students are removed from the active roster and course access is suspended.

  • Final grades are: A, B, C, D, F.
  • An Incomplete grade is not a final grade. Students with an incomplete grade will retain course access until the instructor enters a final grade or the terms of the incomplete expire and the grade is changed to an F.
  • A ZW or administrative withdrawal removes course access in 24 to 48 hours.

Students should back up any posts, assignments or materials which they need to retain within 14 day time frame.
