Annual Authorization to Pay Prior Year Charges

If you would like for SUNY Empire State University to pay for any prior year balance owed, including indirect charges such as late fees, etc., using excess federal financial aid from the current year, please indicate yes on your Financial Aid Dashboard. This authorization must be given each year. The credit applied may not exceed $200.  By granting approval you will be acknowledging that this back balance does not interfere with your ability to pay the educational expenses and cost of attendance for the upcoming term.  You will also be agreeing that if financial aid is denied for any reason you are responsible for the charges on the account, including any back balance and the charges for the upcoming term.

Step-by-Step Guide

From the Self-Service Banner, locate and select the Financial Aid tab

When you are in the Financial Aid dashboard, you will see a red banner titled "Questions from the Financial Aid Office", select View Questions.

The second question you will see will be "Prior Year Authorization"

When you have reviewed the question and made your decision, please select your answer and then submit.
