Delete a Quiz from Content Area and Quizzes Page

Introduction

You can delete a quiz via either the course content or the Quizzes page. If necessary, you can restore a deleted quiz.

Delete a Quiz from Course Content

1. From the course homepage, select Course Menu in the navbar and select Content.
2. Find the quiz you want to delete in the course content and select the chevron next to its title. Select Delete Topic from the pop-up menu.
3. Select one of the two options:
   • To remove the quiz ONLY from the course content, choose "Remove the topic from Content but keep the associated file or activity in the course." You will still need to delete the quiz from the Quiz list and the gradebook.
   • To remove the quiz from the course content AND the Quiz list, choose "Permanently delete both the topic from Content and the associated file or activity from the course."
4. Select the Delete button.

Delete a Quiz from the Quizzes Page

1. From the course homepage, select Course Menu in the navbar and select Quizzes.
2. In the Manage Quizzes tab, find the quiz you want to delete from the list and select the chevron next to its title.
3. Select Delete in the pop-up window.

Restore a Deleted Quiz

1. From the course homepage, click on "Course Menu" in the navbar and select "Quizzes."
2. In the "Manage Quizzes" tab, click the "More Actions" button and select "Restore."
3. In the "Restore Quizzes" page, click the "Restore" button for the quiz you want to restore.

A Note About the Grade Book

Deleting a quiz using either the Course Content or the Quiz List methods will not delete the grade item associated with the quiz, nor will restoring the quiz using the above instructions restore the association with the grade item previously used for the quiz. When the quiz has been deleted, the grade item will need to be deleted, for steps to do that, review the Deleting Grade Items and Grade Categories knowledge base article.
