Setting up MFA Using the Authenticator Web Browser Extension

Information on Azure MFA

  1. Navigate to the Azure MFA setup page: https://aka.ms/mfasetup
  2. Enter your Empire State University email address when prompted and click Next.

  3. Sign in using your Empire email and password.

  4. If prompted with "More information required," click Next.

  5. Select “I want to use a different authenticator app.”

  6. Click Next.

  7. A QR code will display on the screen.

  8. Click the Authenticator extension icon in the top right of your browser.

  9. Click the Scan QR code button in the Authenticator window.

  10. The screen will fade and prompt you to draw a box around the QR code. Use your mouse to drag around the QR code shown on your screen.
  11. Click Next.

  12. Click OK.

  13. Enter the 6-digit code from your Authenticator app.

  14. Click the Authenticator icon again and copy the code that appears.

  15. Paste the code into the prompt that says Enter Code and click Next.
  16. Click Done.

You have completed the steps for configuring the Authenticator web browser extension.
