Introduction

You can delete a discussion via either the course content or the Discussions page.

Delete a Discussion from Course Content

  1. From the course homepage, select Course Menu in the navbar and select Content.
  2. Find the discussion you want to delete in the course content and select the chevron next to its title. Select Delete Topic from the pop-up menu.
  3. Select one of the two options:
    • To remove the discussion ONLY from the course content, choose "Remove the topic from Content but keep the associated file or activity in the course." You will still need to delete the discussion from the Discussions list and the grade book and from the Discussions page.
    • To remove the discussion from the course content AND the Discussions list, choose "Permanently delete both the topic from Content and the associated file or activity from the course."
  4. Select the Delete button.

Delete a Discussion from the Discussions Page

  1. From the course homepage, select Course Menu in the navbar and select Discussions.
  2. On the Discussions page, find the discussion you want to delete from the list and select the chevron next to its title.
  3. Select Delete in the pop-up window.

A Note About the Grade Book

Deleting a discussion using either the Course Content or the Discussions List methods will not delete the grade item associated with the discussion. When the discussion has been deleted, the grade item will need to be deleted, for steps to do that, review the Deleting Grade Items and Grade Categories knowledge base article.
