Introduction
The Import/Export/Copy Components option enables you to copy quizzes, content, grade items, discussion forums, assignments folders, full courses, and nearly every other type of component from another course offering or a course offering’s parent template.
Important considerations:
- The copy process can take a small amount of time, there is a notice when the process is done.
- You can only import content once, importing a second time will duplicate content which can only be removed with Empire Online assistance via a service desk ticket.
- Duplicated content has a negative impact on the grade book.
- Watching the video for this article first can be helpful.
Note: To use your own content from Summer 24 or prior, please submit a service desk ticket. This is due to the migration to our own instance of Brightspace for Fall 25 term.
Copying Your Content from One Course to Another

- At the very top of the course URL bar, use your cursor to highlight the last seven numbers that appear (this is the course code), and copy this (Ctrl C for windows or Cmnd C for Mac.) - Note you can search by course name, skip this step and go to step 3.

- At the top right, select the Settings Icon > Import/Export/Copy Components. Alternatively, from the Course Menu Bar, you may also go to Tools > Course Admin > Import/Export/Copy Components.

- Select Search for offering.

- In the box below where it says Select Course Offering, paste the code you copied earlier (Ctrl C for windows or Cmnd C for Mac.). You should see only one course appear, and that is the course you want to copy components from.
Alternative process - Enter the name for your course in the search box - one or more courses may appear as a choice for you to select. Read the choices carefully to identify the right term and section you wish to copy from.

- To copy all course components, select Copy All Components. Be careful not to duplicate your entire course with this option.

- Then, select either "Copy all items" or "Select individual items to copy" within that category.

- Select all desired items and select "Continue" for each category.

-
- You can then modify the selections on the next page and/or Offset all dates of copied components by selecting the checkbox and entering the number of days or hours. It is recommended to leave offset dates blank and adjust dates within the course after copying.

- Select Finish.

- Once the process is complete, check to ensure that all desired components copied properly.
- You may need to rearrange content into the correct modules.
