Create a new Web Page

You can add a webpage to a Module or sub-module. Brightspace refers to web pages as files, for Empire courses "(Web Page)" has been added to the menu choice to clarify what is being created with this selection. 

Create a new file (Web Page)

  1. At the Course Home select the Course Menu navbar, then select Content. (Note: if you are in the Table of Contents view you can proceed to step 2)

  2. The table of contents view will load. Content area displaying the Table of Contents panel.

  3. In the Table of Contents panel, click on the module in which you want to create a new topic. Table of Contents panel with a module selected.

  4. Select Upload/Create then select Create a File (Web Page)
    • If you are using sub-modules you may see multiple Upload/Create buttons. Choose the one appropriate for where you would like to add the Web Page.

  5. The Create a File (Web Page) creation form will open.
    • Note the form heading indicate where the page will be created:

  6. Enter a title
    • A best practice is to use the Module number as a prefix such as: M1 Readings & Resources

  7. Select a template
    • Several template are available - choose 00_Blank if the other template choices are not relevant.
      (Templates have built-in accessibility and mobile browser features)

  8. Use the Brightspace Editor to add the content to the template. Brightspace Editor open with content editing tools and text area.

  9. Choose Save to save your work and continue editing or choose Save and Close to save your work and return to the content view. Save and Save and Close buttons at the bottom of the Create a File form.
