Access and Use Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat

Introduction

All faculty, staff, and students have access to use Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat within the SUNY Empire instance by logging into Microsoft 365 without a Copilot premium license simply by using SUNY Empire credentials.

How to use Microsoft 365 Copilot chat

1. Open a browser, Microsoft Edge is recommended.
   
    
2. Navigate to Office.com.
    
3. Select “Sign in.”
   
    
4. Enter your SUNY Empire username and password and select "Sign in."
   
   
   
   
    
5. Complete MFA if prompted.
   
    
6. You can now enter a prompt, but before you do, complete the next step.
   
    
7. Before entering a prompt, verify you are logged into the secure version. Note: if you see any other email than your @sunyempire.edu, you are not logged into the secure instance.
   

How to change the model version

1. Go to the “Auto” dropdown box in the upper right corner of the Copilot screen.
2. Copilot Chat has more information on model selection.
