My Media

Every user of LEARNscape (faculty, staff, and students) has their own My Media. This is your private media repository where video, images, and audio files are stored. Media in this repository can be shared with others or published to channels. My Media works across both LEARNscape and LEARNscape in Brightspace.

Overview of My Media Page

Open your My Media section by clicking the user drop-down menu located in the upper right corner of LEARNscape, and selecting My Media. You will be presented with a list of all the media that you have uploaded and/or created. If you have never used LEARNscape before, the My Media page will likely be blank.

To sort or find specific media in your My Media gallery, use the following options:

Filters

  1. Statuses: View a list of your Media based on it's publishing status.
    • Private: only can be viewed by yourself;
    • Published: searchable and can be viewed by users with access to your channel(s);
    • Pending: media that was requested to be made able to view by the whole world;
    • Rejected: media that was requested to be made able to view by the whole world but was rejected;
    • Unlisted: not searchable but able to be viewed by anyone who has a link to its media page.
  2. All Media: Sort media by content type.
  3. Media I Own: Sort media based on ownership. With the collaboration feature, individuals can grant permissions to other LEARNscape users to use their personal media.
    • Media I Own: media that you have created or uploaded.
    • Media I Can Publish: media that you have been granted publishing rights too.
    • Media I Can Edit: media that you have been granted editing rights to.

Search Bar

Search any media that you own by typing any metadata.

Additional features of your My Media gallery include:

  • Actions Button: Quickly delete, publish, or add to playlist the currently selected videos
  • Edit Button: Allows you to change the title, description, tags, and other features of the media. Learn more in the article Actions Menu: Edit.
  • Delete Button: Permanently deletes the media item from LEARNscape. Please note: If the video is published to any channels or Moodle course, it will also be deleted.

My Playlists

What is My Playlists?

My Playlists displays all the playlists that you have created. Here you can delete a playlist, remove videos from the playlist, and grab an embed code for the playlist.Please note: you do not create new playlists or add videos to a playlist from this page.

Overview of My Playlists Page

Access your My Playlists page by clicking the user drop-down menu and choosing My Playlists.

A list of your playlists by title will be shown. If you have never created a playlist before, this page will likely be empty. Select a playlist and then use the following options to view, and edit your playlists.

  1. Reorder Tool: Click-and-drag the six blocks to the left of a video entry to move it up or down in the list.
  2. Save Changes Button: Saves any reordering changes.
  3. Remove from Playlist: Press the "X" to remove the media from the playlist. This does not delete the media from your My Media page.
  4. Embed:Displays the embed code so that it can be copied and pasted into the HTML of a website.
    • Please note: Embedding a playlist on another website mean the videos are no longer contained within the ESC community and are now able to be viewed by the general public.
  5. Delete playlist: Press to delete the entire playlist. The media content will still exist in its original location.

My Channels

What is My Channels?

My Channels displays a list of all the channels that you have created, manage, or are a member of. From this page, you can create a new channel, manage its members, delete channels, and make adjustments to a channels meta-data. This article will outline how to use the My Channels features.

Overview of My Channels Page

Access your My Channels page by clicking the user menu in the upper right-hand corner and selecting My Channels. After you have created your channels and/or you have been added as a member to a channel, you will see them listed in your My Channels page. By default, you will only see the channels that you own. Use the various filters described below to access other channels.

  1. Sort the list of your channels by:
    • Most recent: most recently created/joined;
    • Alphabetical: alphabetical order;
    • Members and subscribers;
    • Media Count: the number of media it contains.
  2. View Channels:
    • You manage;
    • You are a member of only;
    • You are subscribed to only;
    • You are a member of its shared repository.
  3. Thumbnail of a channel:The title, amount of media, number of members, and privacy type is displayed. Clicking on the thumbnail will open that channel and editing capabilities
  4. Search bar: search for any channels that you own, manage, or are a member of.
  5. Create a new channel: Use this button to create a brand new channel.

Overview of a Channel Page

When you click on a channel listed in My Channels, the following options will be displayed:

  1. Sort by: media type, ownership, captions, duration, creation date, and last updated date.
  2. Viewing options: grid view, detailed view, or collapsed view.
  3. Add to Channel: Opens your "My Media,"" so that you can publish additional videos to the channel.
  4. Actions: Edit channel metadata or run an analytic report.
