Reset Your Password - Verifying with Email

Introduction

 

The university uses Microsoft Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) for the password management utility. SSPR enables you to verify your identity and to reset, unlock, or change your password at anytime and from any device.  

All Students are pre-registered with their personal email on file with the university.

All Employees of the university must register at least one email address that is not your university email.

 


 

Reset Your Password

 

 

From any university log in page you can use the Forgot Password Link, or go to https://aka.ms/sspr using any web browser.

 

1. Enter your university username (email address) in the User Id field.

2. Enter the captcha characters.   Please Note: These are NOT case sensitive.

3. Click on Next.

4. Select I forgot my Password option.

5. Click on Next.

6. At the Get Back Into Your Account window,

·          

    • If you are a student, the  Email address on file with the university is displayed. Verify you can access the email, as this is where the 6-digit security code for verification, is sent.
    • If you are an employee, the email address is the email you registered at aka.ms/ssprsetup. Verify you can access the email, as this is where the 6-digit security code for verification, is sent.
    • If you cannot access this email, go to aka.ms/ssprsetup to register an alternative email.
    • If you have more than one email registered, choose which one to use for accessing the 6-digit security code. In this example the student uses the alternate email on file with the university.

7. Read the confirmation statement regarding which email will receive the security code. If correct, Click on Email,  if wrong, Click on Back to change the option. Check the chosen email for the email notification with the security code.

8. Enter the 6-digit security code and click on Next.

9. Enter your new password, confirm and click on Finish.

Congratulations! Your password is confirmed as reset, you can go to MySUNYEmpire portal webpage or any other university webpage to login.

Once your password is reset you can go to the MySUNYEmpire portal webpage to login

Please Note: Your password will expire after approximately 13 months and will need to be updated.
