Here are some answers related to your login issues including forgetting your password/resetting your password, finding your username and any access issues with logging in. This is my first time attempting to access Brightspace Learning Environment and I am unable to login, what do I do?

If this is your first time accessing Brightspace Learning Environment, you may not be enrolled yet. Please wait until the start date of the semester to log in. If the start date has passed and you are still unable to log in, contact the Registrar's Office at 800-847-3000 or 518-587-2100 to verify that you are enrolled and that you are using the correct login credentials.

Where can I find my username?

Your username for accessing Brightspace Learning Environment is provided by SUNY Empire and can be obtained by contacting the Registrar's Office at 800-847-3000 or 518-587-2100.

If you are trying to log in to Brightspace Learning Environment for the first time, check your school email to see if you received an email containing the username you should be using for Brightspace Learning Environment.

Which email address does the "Forget Password/Reset Password" link send an email to?

The email you should be checking is the same email that your school account is associated with:

  • This email address has the following format: "pat.smith@sunyempire.edu"
  • It is not a personal email account unless you have actively requested that this personal email address be associated to your school account and this request has been approved and verified.

I have accessed Brightspace Learning Environment before but now I am unable to login, what do I do?

One common reason why you are unable to log in is that the username and/or password were entered incorrectly. Try to log in again and remember that the username and/or password may be case sensitive. If you still can't log in, select the "Forgot password" or "Reset Password" link on the login page and check your email to see if the reset password link has been sent.

Contact the Registrar's Office at 800-847-3000 or 518-587-2100 to verify which email address your school account is associated to if you can't locate the email. Once you have access to the email, follow the instructions to reset your password.

Alternatively, you may be unable to log in due to an expired password. If you think your password has expired, click "Reset Password" on the login page to update your password.
