Self-Enroll in a Course with Discover for Students

Introduction

While students are auto-enrolled in their courses at Empire State University, there are some optional trainings (e.g. the University's SUNY Empire Student Introduction to Brightspace and the Student Turnitin Portal) available for students to self-enroll through the "Discover" tool. This article reviews how to look up and self-enroll in a course through "Discover."

Find a Course Through Discover

  1. Open the SUNY Empire Dashboard in Brightspace.
  2. Click on the "Discover" option on the Navigation Bar at the top of the Dashboard.
  3. Select a training from the initial list displayed on the Discover page, or click "View all" to see additional options.
    • Please note: if you know the name of your training, use the Search bar at the top of the Discover page.

Self-Enroll in a Course

  1. Go to a course available through Discover.
  2. Click the "Enroll in this course" button, and a confirmation window will open when enrollment is complete.
  3. Click the "Ok" button to close the enrollment confirmation.
  4. Select the "Open Course" button to view the course.
    • Note: the course will now appear in your "My Courses" widget on your Dashboard.
