Submitting an Assignment

Introduction

This article explains how to submit your assignments in Brightspace.

From a Course Module

  1. Go to the course module. Assignments are marked by the word "Assignment" under the title, and by an icon of a file. If there is a specific due date, that date is shown. Instructions are also shown.
  2. Click on the title of the assignment. The assignment page will open.
  3. Upload your work under the "Submissions" heading. How you upload your work depends on how the instructor set up the assignment. You can:
    • Upload a file: You can drag the file from your computer into the area marked off by dashes (-----), or you can click the "Upload" button, select the file from your computer and click "Open."
    • Make an audio or video recording:
      1. Click the "Record" button and select "Record Video" or "Record Audio" as needed.
      2. The "Media Capture" dialog box will open. Click "new Recording" and start your recording.
      3. When you are done, click "Stop Recording." The system will play back the recording for verification.
      4. Click the "Add" button to upload the recorded file.
    • Enter text in a text field: Enter your work in the "Text Submission" field.
  4. Click the "Submit" button to save and submit your work.
  5. You will receive a confirmation email that your work was submitted.

From the Assignments List

  1. From the course navbar, click on "Course Menu" and select "Assignments." You will see a table of all the course assignments, showing the title of the assignment, completion status, score, evaluation status and due date.
  2. Click on the title of the assignment. The assignment page will open.
  3. Upload your work under the "Submit Assignment" heading. How you upload your work depends on how the instructor set up the assignment. You can:
    • Upload a file:
      1. Click the "Add a File" button and a dialog box will open. Select "My Computer."
      2. You can drag the file from your computer into the area marked off by dashes (-----), or you can click the "Upload" button, select the file from your computer and click "Open."
      3. Click the "Add" button to upload the file.
    • Make an audio or video recording:
      1. Click the "Record Video" or "Record Audio" button as needed.
      2. The "Media Capture" dialog box will open. Click "new Recording" and start your recording.
      3. When you are done, click "Stop Recording." The system will play back the recording for verification.
      4. Click the "Add" button to upload the recorded file.
    • Enter text in a text field: Enter your work in the "Text Submission" field.
  4. Click the "Submit" button to save and submit your work.
