MiCloud Connect Browser Extension

Relevant tousers that have an assigned Mitel phone number and extension.  All links in this article will open in a new browser window tab.

Introduction

With the Mitel MiCloud Connect for Chrome extension, you can transfer your Mitel phone profile from your physical desk phone to your Google Chrome browser using a headset & microphone device. This extension is only available for the Chrome browser and once installed, you can make and receive calls from a remote location through the browser using your work Mitel phone/extension profile. This article provides the information needed for the installation and initial setup of Mitel MiCloud.


 Installing the Mitel MiCloud Chrome Extension

 

How to prepare and install the Mitel MiCloud extension,

·          

    • First make sure to have a headset & microphone device already setup on your computer to use the soft phone feature. 
    • Using the Chrome browser, navigate to the application download page in the Chrome web store using the following link: Mitel MiCloud Connect extension download. Be aware that if you have another browser set as the default, you will be directed to a page for the actual Chrome browser download. 
    • Click on the 'Add to Chrome' button towards the top right corner of the screen.
    • Click on the 'Add extension' button in the pop-up window to confirm the install. Once this is completed, you will now have the Mitel MiCloud extension installed in the Chrome browser.

 Launching and Logging into Mitel MiCloud

 

Once the extension is installed, you will notice that the Mitel phone icon now appears towards the top right corner of the Chrome browser window.

Perform the following steps to log into the call center after installing the extension,

·          

    • Click on the Mitel MiCloud icon to launch the application, a small window with a login form will appear.
    • Type in your university employee email address (firstname.lastname@sunyempire.edu) and your Mitel account password.
    • Now click the 'Login' button to log-in.

automatically be populated so you don't have to worry about this field.


 Using the Mitel MiCloud Call Center Extension

 

Once you successfully log-in, you will be brought to the main call center screen displayed below. Now you can switch from your physical office phone to a soft phone environment and communicate using a headset/microphone device that is configured on your computer. The instructions below go over the procedures on switching back and forth between the two.

Steps on configuring the soft phone settings to make and receive calls through the browser,

1.     When you are logged in, click on either the 'available desk phone' or the gear icon in the top right corner.

2.     Select the softphone radio button and click save.

Keep in mind that you also have the ability to switch back to your physical desktop phone in the settings page.

Here are the steps on reverting back to your desktop phone,

·          

    • When you are logged in, click on either the 'available desk phone' or the gear icon in the top right corner.
    • Select the 'Deskphone' radio button and click save
    • If by any chance you receive an error notification when switching to your desktop phone, you might need to re-assign your Mitel profile back onto your physical office phone.

There are additional screens in Mitel MiCloud that you should be aware of so please review the following numbered list to match up with the corresponding numbers shown in the figure 9 screenshot below.

1.   Directory Search: Perform a directory search using either a name or phone number. 

2.   Addition phone options during a call: Notable options include transferring a call, placing a call on hold, opening the dial-pad and hanging up the phone.

3.   Voicemail Recordings: This screen displays a list of saved voicemail recordings.

4.   Phone Call History: This screen displays a history list of all calls including missed calls. 

5.   Favorites List: Favorited contacts will be stored and listed here.
