Change Your University Account Password

Relevant to: Students, Faculty and Staff

Introduction

Empire State University uses Microsoft Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) for the password management utility. SSPR enables you to verify your identity and to reset, unlock, or change your password at any time and from any device.

All Students are pre-registered with their personal email on file with the university.

All Employees of the university must register at least one non-university email address in order to use SSPR.

Change Your Password

There are times you will have to change your university password. Passwords need to be changed once a year, when accounts get compromised, and when temporary passwords are assigned. To change your password, go to the Change Your Password link on the Password Management page.

  1. Enter your university email address in the someone@example.com field.
  2. Enter your current password or temporary password in the Old Password field.
  3. Enter your new password in the New Password field.
  4. Enter your new password again to confirm.
  5. Click Submit

You will get a confirmation that your password has been successfully updated. You can now go to MySUNYEmpire to login.
