Introduction
VoiceThread is a third-party tool that is integrated into Brightspace. It is a dynamic tool that allows students and faculty to transform media into collaborative spaces with video, voice, and text commenting. This article will provide an overview of how to create an access point in Brightspace for students and instructors to access VoiceThread. This article will also provide links to support resources developed and maintained by VoiceThread for the most up-to-date instructions and screenshots.
Create a VoiceThread Link
The following steps outline the process of creating a VoiceThread link within Brightspace.
- Navigate to the content area this link will be accessed by selecting Course Menu followed by Content. Select the Module found in the left-hand menu.
- Select the Existing Activities button and from the menu, then select the VoiceThread option.
- A small pop-up window will appear and you will see that you get logged into VoiceThread automatically. Because VoiceThread is a Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) tool, all users at SUNY Empire will have VoiceThread access that is linked to their SUNY Empire account.
- The next page will display the following options:
- Assignment Builder: Create a graded assignment requiring students to create/comment on/watch a VoiceThread.
- Individual VoiceThread: Display a single VoiceThread.
- Course View: Display all the VoiceThreads shared with this course.
- VT Home Page: Display all VoiceThreads and all courses a student is enrolled in.
- Depending on the selection made in Step 4, follow the associated instructions and resources shared below in the VoiceThread Resources section.
