Here's a step-by-step guide on how to install the Cloudflare WARP client.

Installing Cloudflare WARP Client

  1. Download the Client:
    • Go to Company Portal (windows PC) or Jamf (Mac)  on your SUNY Empire Device and download the appropriate installer for your operating system (Windows, macOS).
  2. Run the Installer:
    • Double-click Cloudflare WARP and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Launch the Application:
    • Once installed, open the Cloudflare WARP application from your applications menu or start menu.
  4. Accept Terms and Conditions:
    • When you first launch the application, you will be prompted to accept the terms and conditions. Read through them and click "Accept" to proceed.
  5. Connect to WARP:
    • Click the "Connect" button within the application to activate the WARP service. This will route your internet traffic through Cloudflare's network, providing enhanced security and performance.
  6. Verify Connection:
    • To ensure that WARP is working correctly, you can visit a website like 1.1.1.1/help, which will show you the status of your connection and confirm that your traffic is being routed through Cloudflare.
  7. Using WARP:
    • Once connected, you can continue to use your internet as usual. The WARP client will run in the background, providing you with a secure and private connection.
    • If you connect to a blocked malicious site, you will get a  browser error and a message like this.

    • If you click more information it will take you to a website that says the URL is blocked and why.

Resetting Cloudflare WARP Session

Occasionally a Cloudflare WARP session may need to be reset to resolve a site access issue. This can be accomplished using the instructions below, or after 12 hours has passed, the session will automatically reset and you will be prompted to login again. 

1. Click on the Cloudflare cloud icon in the task bar.
2. Click on the gear icon in the WARP window 

3. Select the Preferences option

4. In the Preferences menu, select Account from the left side

5. Click on "Re-Authentication Session" button on the right side

6. Follow the prompts in the web browser that opens to re-authenticate the session
