How Do I copy Content that is Mine?

Introduction 

The Import/Export/Copy Components option enables you to copy quizzes, content, grade items, discussion forums, assignments folders, full courses, and nearly every other type of component from another course offering or a course offering’s parent template.

Note: To use your own content from Summer 24 or prior, please submit a service desk ticket. This is due to the migration to our own instance of Brightspace for Fall 25 term.

Copying Your Content from One Course to Another

  1. Start by going to the course you wish to copy components from.
  2. At the very top of the course URL bar, use your cursor to highlight the last seven numbers that appear (this is the course code), and copy this (Ctrl C for windows or Cmnd C for Mac.)Course URL with the last seven-digit course code highlighted and copied from the address bar

  3. Navigate to the course that you want to copy course components into.
  4. At the top right, select the Settings Icon > Import/Export/Copy Components. Alternatively, from the Course Menu Bar, you may also go to Tools > Course Admin > Import/Export/Copy Components.

  6. Select Search for offering.

  7. In the box below where it says Select Course Offering, paste the code you copied earlier (Ctrl C for windows or Cmnd C for Mac.). You should see only one course appear, and that is the course you want to copy components from.Select Course Offering field with copied course code entered and one matching course displayed

  10. Do one of the following:
    • To copy all course components, select Copy All Components. Be careful not to duplicate your entire course with this option.
    • To only choose specific items to copy, select Select Components.Copy components page showing Copy All Components and Select Components options
  11. If you chose "Select Components," choose a category or multiple categories.
  12. Then, select either "Copy all items" or "Select individual items to copy" within that category.
    • If you chose "Select individual items to copy," you can expand the titles to select specific items.Expanded category showing individual items available for selection

  13. You can then modify the selections on the next page and/or Offset all dates of copied components by selecting the checkbox and entering the number of days or hours. It is recommended to leave offset dates blank and adjust dates within the course after copying.Review page showing copied component selections and offset dates option

  14. Select Finish.

  15. Once the process is complete, check to ensure that all desired components copied properly.
  16. You may need to rearrange content into the correct modules.
