Introduction
Chat messages can be sent between individual users, among groups, and within meetings. This article covers moderation of a chat's notifications, participants, and history.
Please note: to "mute" a chat will disable notifications for future messages sent; to "leave" a chat will disable all future messages from appearing.

Remove a participant from a chat
In MS Teams, if a guest is invited to a recurring meeting, they will be given access to the meeting's chat (whether they are a guest to the university overall or a member of the university who has been invited as a guest to a specific meeting). They will be able to post to all the other participants in the meeting (and any who are participants of the meeting who are not in attendance that day). They will be able to view a history of the chat after the meeting. They will not be given access to the meeting's chat history from the time prior to their joining the meeting/chat.
A guest to a meet chat does need to be removed from the chat/meeting after their participation to the meeting, otherwise they will continue to receive notifications and messages within that meeting chat in the future. Here is how any member of the meeting can remove a guest from the meeting chat.
1. Open the meeting chat that you would like to remove the participant from.
2. Select the "MS Teams" icon that has a number next to it (the number notes the number of participants in the chat). A list of all meeting chat participants will drop down.
3. Hover your mouse next to the name of the participant that you wish to remove from the meeting chat. An "X" icon will appear next to their name.
4. Click the "X" icon next to the participant's name; they will be removed from the chat. A notification that you have removed this participant from the chat will appear in the chat history.
