LEARNscape: Editing Captions

Introduction

The LEARNscape automatic captions are 90-98% accurate, depending on the quality of the audio. This article will outline how to make edits to the generated captions and apply them immediately to your LEARNscape media. Please note: You cannot edit caption files until captions have been ordered. If you have not ordered captions, please review the Order Captions article.

Open the Caption Editing Interface

  1. Open the LEARNscape video with the captions you would like to edit.
  2. Click the Actions drop-down menu and select +Caption Requests.
  3. A new section will appear. Click on the pencil icon next to the word COMPLETE under status to open the editing interface.
  4. A new window with the title Closed Caption Editor will open.

Understanding the Caption Editing Interface

  1. Individual Caption Tracks: These tracks are synced along with the video. A new track is generated at the end of every sentence. If a track doesn't start at the correct position, you can put your cursor before the word you want to start the new track with and press Enter on your keyboard. This will create a new track before that word.
  2. Playback Controls: The playback controls for rewind, fast forward, pause, and play make captioning easier and give you more control.
  3. Caption Track Editor: You make edits to the captions in this field. If you highlight a track in Section A., that sections text will appear in the editor.
  4. Save Buttons: Save will save any edits made to the captions and will publish the changes. It is recommended to save edits as you move through the video as to not lose any progress.
