About the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS)

The National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) is an organization that evaluates professional learning experiences for university credit. SUNY Empire accepts credit recommendations from NCCRS, provided that the training received is during the period of time, at the locations, and for the length of time listed in the NCCRS Directory.

Searching the NCCRS Guide

To search the guide, start by going to the NCCRS website (https://www.nationalccrs.org/) and clicking on the CCRS Online Directory (https://www.nationalccrs.org/course-credit-directory). Enter the organization or course title in the search box or browse the alphabetical list of organizations at the bottom of the page. For example, if you have completed training through the New York City Police Department, you can enter part or all of the organization's name into the search box to determine whether NCCRS has evaluated training offered by this organization.

If you are not sure of the Organization title, you can also search by Course Title:

Each organization page has a list of courses that have been evaluated.

Each course will list the dates of the evaluation and the recommended credits:

Earlier versions of the course, exam, or training may have been evaluated, so be sure to check the date range. The credit recommendation may be different for each date range.

If you are able to find your course, the next step is to have documentation sent directly to Empire State University’s Admissions office. You can find out more details at Documenting NCCRS learning.

If you cannot find what you are looking for or have trouble obtaining documentation, please contact us at the Office of Prior Learning at OPL@sunyempire.edu.
